A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health with Olga Avdeeva, Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its cooperation with the Global Fund. According to the minister, regular meetings between the Ministry of Health and Global Fund missions contribute to strengthening this partnership.
Teymur Musayev noted that since 2005, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has been actively involved in supporting tuberculosis control efforts in Azerbaijan: "Currently, Global Fund projects are being successfully implemented in Azerbaijan, making a significant contribution to the fight against tuberculosis."
The minister also reminded that in March of last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) certified Azerbaijan as a "malaria-free" country. He said that success in combating malaria was made possible thanks to years of comprehensive support from partners, particularly the leadership of the WHO.
In conclusion, Teymur Musayev expressed confidence in the continued successful development of cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and the Global Fund.
In turn, Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund highly praised Azerbaijan's certification as a "malaria-free" country. She noted that this achievement was made possible due to the dedication of healthcare workers, as well as targeted prevention, early detection, and treatment of all malaria cases.
The meeting also discussed the current state of cooperation and potential opportunities for its development.
