A meeting was held with the delegation led by the deputy chairman of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, Alexey Tereshin, at the Ministry of Health, within the framework of the visit of St. Petersburg's cultural and business mission to the capital of Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev noted the effective cooperation in the field of health and medical science between our countries. Teymur Musayev recalled the meeting held in Baku in the summer of 2021 with a delegation led by Russia's Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko. During the meeting, a "Renewed Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Health and Medical Sciences" was signed between the two countries.
Expressing gratitude for Russia's support in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister emphasized that valuable advice from Russian specialists contributed significantly to stabilizing the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan. Teymur Musayev highlighted the rich scientific and research traditions of medical universities in St. Petersburg, noting that they have produced distinguished scholars over the years. He also highlighted the specialized medical services provided at St. Petersburg's Clinical Scientific-Practical Centers.
In conclusion, Azerbaijan's Health Minister expressed optimism about the future dynamic development of bilateral relations, stating, "There are all opportunities for the exchange of modern methodological and scientific-practical experience in continuous professional education for medical professionals."
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, Alexey Tereshin emphasized the importance of such meetings in terms of experience and knowledge exchange. The head of the delegation provided detailed information about the activities of medical centers and institutions in St. Petersburg, noting significant achievements in cardiac surgery, minimally invasive procedures, thoracic surgery, oncology, urology, and other medical fields. Alexey Tereshin expressed interest in elevating cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and its affiliated scientific research institutes and centers to a higher level.
The head of the delegation also mentioned that during the visit, meetings will be held at Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) and its scientific clinics, and the signing of a Cooperation Memorandum between Azerbaijan Medical University and St. Petersburg Pediatric University is envisaged.
Finally, the parties discussed cooperation issues on priority directions.
