The Minister of Health of Azerbaijan spoke at the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Organization of Turkic States member states, held in Astana

The 5th Meeting of Health Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is taking place in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event, held with the support of the Organization of Turkic States and the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, is attended by a delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Minister of Health Teymur Musayev.
In his opening speech, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev highlighted the close bilateral cooperation between the member states in the field of healthcare.
Speaking at the event, Hans Henri Kluge, Director of the WHO European Regional Office, emphasized the importance of the meeting and wished it success.


The Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, Aqmaral Älnazarova, noted that the international event brought together health ministers from OTS member and observer states, heads of medical universities, and invited scholars from various countries. She expressed confidence that the meeting would be successful and highly effective for the further development of healthcare in the member states.
During his speech, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan, Teymur Musayev, first expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, other state agencies, and the people of Kazakhstan for their timely assistance to the victims of the December 25, 2023, plane crash near Aktau, involving an Azerbaijan Airlines (Azərbaycan Hava Yolları) aircraft on a passenger flight from Baku to Grozny.
He stated that upon the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, a delegation from Azerbaijan was immediately sent to the crash site in Aktau. From the very first moments of the tragedy, Kazakhstani medical workers provided great support and showed dedication. Thanks to their timely and professional medical assistance, the injured passengers were saved and later transported to their home countries. The solidarity shown by Kazakhstani citizens has left a deep mark in the hearts of Azerbaijani citizens.


Musayev emphasized the high level of organization of the event and noted that the Organization of Turkic States has played a key role in strengthening ties between member and observer states in a short period, including regional cooperation.
He stated that the growing influence of the Organization, which is based on the principles of shared history, language, identity, and culture, in the international arena is the result of the visionary policies of OTS leaders, mutual trust, and support. The adoption of the Common Turkic Alphabet in September 2024 was made possible thanks to support at the highest level.
Musayev also noted that the 4th Meeting of Health Ministers of OTS, held in Shusha, was a source of pride. During that meeting, the Protocol of Intent on the Creation of the Unified Turktransplant Information System and other important documents were signed.
He stressed that at the current meeting, the priority areas for joint action include establishing a Unified Medical Scientific Space for OTS member and observer states, conducting joint scientific research, setting unified standards for medical education, and ensuring continuity in medical training.
Additionally, he pointed out that the active integration of information and communication technologies in healthcare allows for the development of common electronic healthcare standards within the Organization.
He stated that President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that the Organization of Turkic States should become one of the centers of power on a global scale is successfully being realized. He expressed confidence that all parties would make every effort toward this goal.
The Minister of Health of Turkey, Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Asilbek Khudayarov, Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Erkin Checheybaev and Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior of Hungary, Judit Bidlo, emphasized that the international event will contribute to the further expansion of cooperation between the countries and will play a crucial role in advancing joint activities.
The final document – the Joint Declaration – was approved at the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Health of the member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States. Following the meeting, it was decided that the next meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Organization will be held in Kyrgyzstan.


Additionally, within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of healthcare and medical sciences was signed between the Medical University of Astana and the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan.
