Within the framework of COP29, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan held a meeting with the Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO)
As part of the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, met with Dr. Hans Henri Kluge, the Regional Director for Europe at the World Health Organization (WHO).
In his remarks, Minister Musayev emphasized Azerbaijan's strong commitment to collaboration with reputable health institutions, including the WHO.
Highlighting the importance of the Global Climate Conference being held in Baku, Musayev noted that Azerbaijan has officially joined the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH) and will serve as a co-chair of the Alliance for the next two years:
"As a co-chair of ATACH, the Republic of Azerbaijan will promote joint efforts to establish climate-resilient and low-carbon healthcare systems."
In conclusion, the Minister of Health expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral cooperation.
In turn, Dr. Hans Henri Kluge highlighted the high-level organization of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), stating: "Azerbaijan consistently hosts significant international events at the highest level, and COP29 is no exception."
The WHO Regional Director for Europe emphasized the relevance of the topics discussed at COP29, noting that the Conference of the Parties offers a critical opportunity for the global community to come together and identify practical solutions.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
