The Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, at the panel session of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Investment Forum, discussed the prospects for the development of health and medical tourism
The Azerbaijan-Turkey Investment Forum, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, was jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Public Association of Turkish-Azerbaijani Entrepreneurs and Industrialists (TÜİB).
During the forum, panel sessions on various topics were held. Speaking at the panel session “Prospects for the development of health tourism in Azerbaijan,” Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan Teymur Musayev emphasized that under the leadership of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, cooperation between the two fraternal countries is developing dynamically, the organization of joint events covering various sectors is becoming regular.
The Minister noted the increasing relevance of health and medical tourism worldwide in recent years. He added that, according to the Presidential Decree on the "Strategic Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026," strengthening the strategic, institutional, and financial mechanisms for ensuring sustainable tourism development is among the key areas of activity.
Teymur Musayev highlighted that due to the establishment of modern medical infrastructure, the introduction of advanced technological equipment, and the development of qualified human resources in recent years, the Republic of Turkey has become an international center for health and medical tourism.
The Minister of Health of Azerbaijan also said that under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, during the 44-day Patriotic War, the heroic Army liberated historical lands. Presently, special attention is being given to the creation of tourist infrastructure in the ongoing construction and restoration works in these liberated territories. These newly liberated areas hold significant potential for the development of health and medical tourism as well as ecotourism.
In conclusion, Teymur Musayev expressed hope that the forum would play a crucial role in the further development of health and medical tourism.
At the panel session, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilgar Gasimov, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Nagiyev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey Shuaib Birinci, and others also spoke. Their presentations highlighted the potential of health and medical tourism, the expansion of its utilization opportunities, and the importance of applying Turkey's experience in Azerbaijan.
The forum included panel sessions on topics such as "Investment Opportunities in the Republic of Azerbaijan," "The Role of Transport and Logistics Centers in Increasing Bilateral Trade," "Dialogue in the Fields of Agriculture and Food Industry: Challenges and Modern Solutions," "Green Energy and 'Smart' Cities," and "The Role of Modern Technology in Military-Technical Cooperation."
