On December 18, an event was held on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of the first president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, a well-known public figure, academician Miresadulla Mirgasimov. Before the event, representatives of the public visited the grave of the eminent scientist in Alley of Honors, laid flowers on his monument and prayed for his soul.

At the event held in the building of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, an exhibition reflecting the life and activities of academician Miresadulla Mirgasimov was viewed.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Ilgar Gasimov spoke about academician Miresadulla Mirgasimov's historical services in the development of healthcare and medical science in Azerbaijan. I. Gasimov noted that the first Azerbaijani scientist-surgeon dedicated his life to the development of urology, surgery and related fields, and the organization of Azerbaijani science. The deputy minister also emphasized the importance of the scientific and practical work carried out by academician Miresadulla Mirgasimov, who is the first doctor of medical sciences and one of the founders of national health care, in the field of surgery.

In their statements, the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, the Chair of the Healthcare Committee of the National Assembly, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, the Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University, Professor Geray Geraybeyli, and others shared memories about distinguished scholars, discussing the legacy of Miresadulla Mirgasimov in the training of highly qualified medical professionals and how his scientific research remains relevant today.
