A meeting with the newly appointed Global Fund Portfolio Manager was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health with Valeria Grishechkina, the newly appointed Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Global Fund (GF).
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev congratulated Valeria Grishechkina on her new appointment as the Global Fund’s Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
In his speech, the minister emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to cooperation with the Global Fund and noted that regular meetings between the Ministry of Health and Global Fund missions contribute to further strengthening existing relations.
Teymur Musayev also recalled that since 2005, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has been actively involved in supporting anti-tuberculosis efforts in Azerbaijan: “Currently, Global Fund projects are being continuously implemented in Azerbaijan and provide significant support in the fight against tuberculosis.”
The minister highlighted that in March 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) certified Azerbaijan as a "malaria-free" country and stressed that this success in the fight against malaria was made possible thanks to the long-term comprehensive support of partners, especially those led by WHO.
In conclusion, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan expressed confidence that cooperation with the Global Fund will continue to develop and deepen in the future.

Expressing her gratitude for the warm reception, Valeria Grishechkina highly praised Azerbaijan’s certification as a “malaria-free” country. The Global Fund’s Portfolio Manager noted that this achievement was made possible thanks to the continuous dedication of healthcare workers, as well as the targeted prevention, early detection, and treatment of malaria cases.
During the meeting, the current state of cooperation, potential opportunities for development, and other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
