Under the auspices of the President of the Turkiye Republic, the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress” has started within the framework of the “Turkey Centenary” in Istanbul.

Besides Turkic states, official delegations from different continents and well-known scientists in the health sphere took part in the congress.

The main purpose of the event is to exchange ideas and experiences related to innovations, progressive approaches, and innovative technological solutions, especially in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of healthcare in the modern world.

At the opening ceremony of the Congress, a video recording was introduced by the President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the event participants. Welcoming the participants of the Congress, the President of Turkiye expressed confidence that the event would open up new opportunities for the development of the healthcare system of the Turkish state and wished success to the participants of the Congress.

Speaking at the Congress, the chairman of the Turkish Institute of Health, Prof. Dr. Erhan Akdogan, first conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the 100^th anniversary of Turkiye’s Republic establishment. He noted that the “Turkic Medical World Congress” creates wide opportunities for medical science development, achievements, inventions, ideas exchange and sharing of theoretical and practical experiences in the field of application of new treatment methods.

Welcoming the delegation of Azerbaijan and event participants, the Health Minister of Turkiye Fahrettin Koca emphasized in his speech that the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress” was held under the head of the country’s auspices on an important date, within the framework of the 100^th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkiye. The Minister said that this year’s topic of the congress is “Artificial Intelligence in Health”. Fahrettin Koca noted that the discussion and experience exchange about recent achievements in medicine, new technological solutions, digitization and innovations will make an important contribution to the principles of future activities, as well as cooperation priorities. Also, the Health Minister of Turkiye spotlighted that the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress” will create an invaluable opportunity for the further development of relations in the health sector.

Speaking at the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress”, the Health Minister of the Republic of Azerabaijan, Teymur Musayev, congratulated our Turkish brothers on behalf of the Ministry on the 100^th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye: “This year is the 100^th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye, with which our pain and joy are united by the concept of one nation two states. I am sure that the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood will become even stronger over centuries. 2023 is a significant year also for Azerbaijan. It is the 100^th anniversary of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern Azerbaijan, a wise political figure with historical and incomparable services in strengthening the bonds of fraternity between two brotherly countries”.

Speaking about the importance of the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress”, Teymur Musayev said that the platform which was created with the participation of Health Ministers and scientists of various countries, not only establishes relations between medical specialists of the countries represented in the Organization of Turkic States but also with Turkic professionals operating in other countries. Moreover, “lX Turkic Medical World Congress” created a solid basis for getting to know their experiences and identifying opportunities for future cooperation: “As a result of these strategic and forward-looking steps, delegations from different continents are participating in today’s event, and the congress has become an international platform for knowledge exchange”.

A few days ago, it was noted that the 20-year period of the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan President Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Azerbaijan was celebrated with great pride and joy in our country. “On October 15, 2023, thanks to the political will of Mr. President, our flag began to wave all over the country, and the sovereignty of our Republic was fully restored. After a 30-year occupation period, the liberated areas were rapidly integrated into all sectors of the country. Application of modern information technologies plays an important role in this process”, the Minister emphasized.

Teymur Musayev noted that the main factor that ensures the dynamic development of modern healthcare systems is the digitalization of it. So, as a result of technological breakthrough and the discovery of medical knowledge, the global healthcare sector is currently experiencing a period of transformation. “Artificial intelligence is now being used to increase efficiency in various processes in healthcare. I believe that the congress will address various topics in the realm of artificial intelligence, and the experience of the Republic of Turkiye in this sphere will create great interest among the participants”, the Minister concluded.

Later, a bilateral meeting was held between the Health Minister of Azerbaijan and Turkiye within the framework of the “lX Turkic Medical World Congress”. The parties effectively exchanged views on fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye, cooperation in the health realm, as well as joint projects. It was noted that the exchange of ideas and experiences related to the application of artificial intelligence, which is the topic of this year’s congress, will create ample opportunities for the discovery of modern technological development and medical knowledge.

As a part of the event, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan, Teymur Musayev, was awarded the “Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive” award for achievement in the healthcare realm.

The congress, which will end on October 22, will continue with discussions and presentations on various topics in panel sessions.
