A meeting was held with the Regional Director of UNICEF at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan
A meeting was held with Ms. Regina De Dominicis, the Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by Vladanka Andreeva, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, and Ceyhun Mirzayev, the representative of UNICEF in the country.
Welcoming the guests, Health Minister Teymur Musayev emphasized the productive collaboration between Azerbaijan and UNICEF, stating, "In Azerbaijan, special attention is paid to the formation, strengthening, and development of human capital. Within the framework of bilateral relations between our country and the UNICEF, projects are implemented in various directions such as healthcare, education, and the protection of maternal and child health."
Teymur Musayev highlighted significant efforts by the Ministry of Health to improve services in the protection of maternal and child health, as well as the modernization and digitization of healthcare. The Minister expressed confidence that the collaboration would continue to be effective in the future.
Regina De Dominicis, in turn, praised the level of partnership between Azerbaijan and UNICEF, noting that the UNICEF's activities in the country started in 1993. During the early projects implemented by UNICEF in Azerbaijan, attention was focused on vaccination, healthcare, rehabilitation, education, and child protection issues. The Regional Director of the UNICEF acknowledged the significant steps taken at the state level in Azerbaijan in the direction of maternal and child health protection.
During the meeting, priority areas for collaboration were also discussed.
