A meeting with the Mission of the Global Fund was held at the Ministry of Health
A meeting was held with the Mission led by Olga Avdeyeva, the Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund at the Ministry of Health. Welcoming the guests, Health Minister Teymur Musayev noted Azerbaijan's commitment to collaboration with the Global Fund. According to him, the Ministry of Health's regular meetings with the missions of the Global Fund further support the development of existing relations.
Teymur Musayev stated that since 2005, Azerbaijan has been actively involved in supporting activities against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria through the Global Fund. He remarked, "Currently, the projects of the Global Fund in Azerbaijan are being consistently implemented, contributing significantly to our country's fight against tuberculosis."
The minister also recalled Azerbaijan being certified as a "malaria-free" country by the World Health Organization (WHO) last March. He attributed this success to both the continuous dedication of healthcare workers and the comprehensive support from longstanding partners in combating malaria.
In conclusion, Teymur Musayev expressed confidence in further enhancing successful cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and the Global Fund.
Meanwhile, Olga Avdeyeva, the Mission Leader, highly praised Azerbaijan's certification as a "malaria-free" country, attributing this achievement to the continuous dedication of healthcare workers and the effective prevention, early detection, and treatment of malaria cases.
Olga Avdeyeva also acknowledged Azerbaijan's efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, highlighting successful indicators at the regional level. The Mission Leader also emphasized the implementation of several important projects jointly undertaken by the Global Fund and the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan.
The meeting also discussed the current status of collaboration and potential opportunities for further development.
