Within the framework of the 74th session of the European Regional Committee of the WHO, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan held a number of bilateral meetings
Within the framework of the 74th session of the WHO European Regional Committee, the Azerbaijani delegation, led by Health Minister Teymur Musayev, held several bilateral meetings.
The first meeting was with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Teymur Musayev emphasized Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to building close ties with the WHO and expressed gratitude for the organization's support to Azerbaijan over the years. In response, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised the importance that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, places on collaboration with the WHO, and expressed confidence in the continued success of joint projects between the WHO and Azerbaijan in the future.
Following this, a meeting was held with Hans Henri Kluge, the re-elected Chair of the WHO European Regional Committee. Teymur Musayev congratulated Hans Henri Kluge on his re-election and highlighted the strong, high-level connections Azerbaijan maintains with esteemed health organizations, including the WHO. Both sides expressed confidence that initiatives essential to public health will continue to be successfully implemented in the future.
Additionally, meetings were held with delegations led by Latvia's Health Minister, Hossams Abu Meri, and Romania's Health Minister, Alexandru Rafila. During these meetings, the exceptional role of the heads of state in fostering relations between the nations was highlighted. The discussions also noted the strong potential for further development of cooperation in the healthcare sector.
During the meetings, congratulations were extended to the Azerbaijani delegation on the occasion of Azerbaijan hosting the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29). The significance of an esteemed event like COP29 was emphasized, and it was noted that Azerbaijan has consistently organized major international events at the highest level.
