A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health with the president of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and director of the Center for Molecular Cardiology at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), Thomas F. Lüscher
Welcoming the guests, the Minister of Health, Teymur Musaev, spoke about the history of cardiology development in Azerbaijan. The minister noted that thanks to the wise policy and foresight of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the foundation was laid for achieving significant results in all fields of medicine, including cardiology: "As a result of the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, a modern medical infrastructure has been created in Azerbaijan. The implementation of several state programs owes much to the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva."
In his speech, Teymur Musaev highly appreciated the activities of the ESC, which cover the entire spectrum of cardiology and are crucial for promoting the global fight against cardiovascular diseases. The minister also noted the professionalism of the ESC's cardiovascular specialists: "This unique network allows us to understand the impact of cardiovascular diseases and how we can reduce their prevalence."
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the ESC president emphasized the importance of such meetings for exchanging experience and knowledge. Thomas F. Lüscher also provided detailed information about the activities of the ESC, stating that the ESC includes 57 national cardiology societies in Europe, including Azerbaijan.
Noting the importance of the third Congress on Innovations in Heart Failure held in Baku, Thomas F. Lüscher highlighted that the international congresses organized in Azerbaijan on various healthcare issues, including cardiology, are always held at a high level.
During the meeting, productive discussions took place on expanding cooperation in cardiology between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and the European Society of Cardiology.
It should be noted that Professor Thomas F. Lüscher, who has published over 500 scientific works and more than 200 reviews and chapters in cardiovascular medicine books, is one of the most cited scientists in the world.
