Minister of Health Meets with the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, met with Dmitry Shlapachenko, the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, including joint projects and initiatives implemented in the healthcare sector, was emphasized.
Welcoming the guest, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev noted that effective cooperation exists between Azerbaijan and the UN and its specialized agencies in the healthcare sector. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with international partners in protecting public health, improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, preventing diseases, and strengthening the resilience of the healthcare system.
Teymur Musayev also spoke about the efforts undertaken in Azerbaijan to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those aimed at ensuring good health and well-being. The Minister highlighted initiatives in digital transformation in healthcare, the adoption of modern approaches, the development of medical services, and the strengthening of human capital.
In turn, Dmitry Shlapachenko expressed the UN’s readiness to further develop cooperation in the healthcare sector in Azerbaijan and strengthen the existing partnership. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and UN agencies.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding international cooperation in healthcare, implementing joint projects with relevant UN agencies, initiatives aimed at protecting public health, and other matters of mutual interest.
