The Ministry of Health held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health with the delegation led by Jean Todt, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The meeting included an exchange of views on road safety, the prevention of road traffic accidents, the enhancement of emergency medical care provided to victims of traffic accidents, and the prospects for further developing international cooperation in this field.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev provided detailed information on the measures being implemented in the Republic of Azerbaijan to protect public health, ensure road safety, and deliver timely and high-quality medical care to individuals injured in road traffic accidents.
The Minister noted that road safety is an important area encompassing not only the transport sector but also public health. In this regard, he emphasized the particular importance of expanding cooperation with international organizations and studying international best practices.
Jean Todt, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, highly commended the measures implemented in Azerbaijan to improve road safety and highlighted the progress achieved in this field. He noted that the United Nations attaches particular importance to expanding cooperation with Member States to prevent road traffic accidents and protect human life and health.
The meeting also included discussions on strengthening road safety awareness initiatives, further developing the emergency medical care system, enhancing coordination among relevant institutions, and exploring opportunities for future cooperation.
