New perspectives for the development and strengthening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Argentina in the field of pharmaceuticals were discussed
An introductory meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Azerbaijan, Mariángeles Bellusci.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev congratulated Mariángeles Bellusci on her appointment as the Ambassador of Argentina to our country. The minister highlighted the significance of bilateral visits of high-level officials between the two countries for the development of relations.
Emphasizing that bilateral relations are developing in many fields, Teymur Musayev pointed out the great potential for exchanging experiences between national healthcare institutions. According to him, relations between Azerbaijan and Argentina in the field of health policy and public health are carried out at an international level - within the framework of cooperation with the World Health Organization and the Non-Aligned Movement. Thus, to support the fight against the coronavirus, within the framework of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2021, Argentina was provided with humanitarian assistance in the amount of 300 thousand US dollars through the World Health Organization.
In his speech, the minister stressed that the digitalization of the healthcare system is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan: "The Argentinian model of digital healthcare is one of the best in South America. Studying Argentina's experience in this area can be useful for us."
The minister emphasized the successful cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry that has been carried out in recent years. He said that currently, 43 medicines that are produced in Argentina are officially registered in Azerbaijan. Teymur Musayev expressed hope for further development of cooperation between our countries.
In turn, Mariángeles Bellusci stressed that Argentina pays special attention to developing relations with Azerbaijan. The Ambassador also noted that to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system of our countries, there is a necessity for interaction in the field of medical education.
The current situation and potential development opportunities for Azerbaijan-Argentina cooperation in healthcare and medical sciences were also discussed. Moreover, novel prospects for developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals were also considered.
