Ilgar Abulfaz oglu Gasimov
Deputy Minister
Ilqar Gasimov was born on April 12, 1965, in the city of Baku. He completed his education at Secondary School No. 134 in Baku in 1982 and entered the Faculty of Medical Treatment at Azerbaijan Medical University the same year, graduating in 1988. From 1989 to 1990, he underwent residency in Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
After completing his residency, in 1999, he began working as a junior research fellow at the same institute.
He earned his Candidate of Medical Sciences degree at the Central Institute of Traumatology in Moscow named after Priorov in 1994 and pursued his Doctoral studies there from 1996 to 2000, obtaining a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the Chief Scientific Officer at the Large Joint Arthroplasty and Endoprosthetics Department at the Moscow Central Institute of Traumatology named after Priorov. He worked as a research fellow at the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Postgraduate Education Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2017, he worked in several private clinics in Baku.
On August 17, 2017, based on the order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was appointed as the Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
Simultaneously, since 2019, he has been serving as the Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Institute for the Improvement of Doctors named after Aziz Aliyev.
By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 3, 2022, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Health.
He is married and has two children.
