A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan with a delegation of an international pharmaceutical company
On January 21, 2026, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan with a regional delegation of the international pharmaceutical company Pfizer, representing the Caucasus, Central Asian region, and Mongolia.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Teymur Musayev, as well as specialists from the relevant structural departments of the Ministry of Health.
During the meeting, possible areas of cooperation in the healthcare sector were discussed, including the prevention of pneumococcal infection, expansion of pneumococcal vaccination coverage among priority population groups, current epidemiological indicators and disease burden, as well as issues related to improving the quality of treatment for patients suffering from oncological diseases.
Teymur Musayev emphasized that the prevention of infectious diseases and the effective treatment of socially significant diseases are among the key priorities for national healthcare systems. It was noted that pneumococcal infection occupies an important place among preventable diseases affecting children and elderly population groups, while oncological diseases continue to be one of the leading causes of mortality in the region. In this context, both sides highlighted that expanding patient access to modern and innovative treatment methods is of great importance for improving quality of life.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest and discussions on assessing the prospects for further cooperation.
