A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with representatives of Pfizer, headed by Dmitry Kozenkov, the head of the company's branch for the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev noted that during the most difficult times of the coronavirus pandemic, vaccines from four well-known companies were used in Azerbaijan. The Minister emphasized that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was one of them. He also noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) included the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the list of medicines authorized for emergency use. During the meeting, it was also highlighted that the Ministry of Health is ready to discuss the introduction of other vaccines in Azerbaijan that are important for the health of the country's population.
At the meeting, Dmitry Kozenkov, head of Pfizer’s branch for the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia, emphasized that since the beginning of the pandemic, Azerbaijan has been one of the few countries that chose its own path in the fight against COVID-19. The Government of Azerbaijan developed and implemented prompt and effective measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and to mitigate the damage caused to the economy and the social well-being of the population.
As part of the meeting, there was an exchange of views on mutual cooperation between Pfizer and the Ministry of Health, and scientific-medical aspects were discussed.
